Bangladesh: India appoints Pranay Kumar Verma as next High Commissioner
New Delhi: India has appointed Pranay Kumar Verma, a seasoned diplomat and member of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), 1994-batch, as its new High Commissioner to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Currently, he is serving as India’s Ambassador to Vietnam.
He succeeds Dr. Vikram Doraiswamy (1992-batch), who served in Dhaka since October 2020.
Verma had worked in Beijing, Kathmandu, Hong Kong, San Francisco, and Washington, DC earlier.
He has also worked as the Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi and as the Joint Secretary for External Relations at the Department of Atomic Energy, where he oversaw India’s nuclear diplomacy, the Ministry said.
Verma is likely to assume his new charge soon.
