New Delhi: Trouble for the genuine students of India – who wish to study in Australia and Canada – is expected to increase as both countries have started rejecting Indian visas due to the entry of thousands of students in Australia and Canada with fake papers and illegal documents.

The education experts with the condition of anonymity, said “The illegal act of some students also damages the image of genuine students who wish to enter and study in Canada or Australia with all legal documents and formalities. There are thousands of students also who are holding all the documents legally and get a rejection from the embassy, and the reason is some students try to enter the foreign country by hook or crook.”

According to the media report, students from Punjab state are getting the highest visa rejection as of now as thousands of students entered Canada and Australia with fake documents, fake birth certificates, bank statements, and duplicate educational documents.

In 2020-21, Australia’s Department of Home Affairs has caught more than 600 cases related to Punjab and Haryana in which forged documents were used to obtain education visas to Australia.

At the same time, the number of such cases caught by the Canadian High Commission in a year is more than 2,500. Similar cases have also been caught by New Zealand, UK, and US embassies. Canada’s visa rejection rate has reached 41 percent. Before Covid, it was 15 percent.

According to the new report of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration, in 2021, around 225,400 applications for study visas were processed and 91,439 of them were rejected. That is, about 41 percent of the applications were rejected.

Visa officers in these countries doubt admission to normal courses. In many cases, the visa officer suspects that you are immigrating on the pretext of study. Students of commerce, non-medical, etc. in India also apply for visas in Canada for easy courses like caregivers, diplomas in salon management, food craft, etc. This makes the visa officer more suspicious and he asks more questions and a visa is not given without a satisfactory answer.
