Assam: State government to provide jobs to National Games medalists
Guwahati: Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that “The State Government of Assam has decided to provide government job to the National Games Medalists. The state government will provide jobs to medal winner of Olympics, Asian and Commonwealth games.”
The Chief Minister mentioned that all those who won medals in National Games so far for Assam would be given Sports Pension by the State Government. CM Sarma hoped that this decision would help the sportspersons of the state.
The Assam-based Sports experts also said that the “Sarma government’s decision to provide government job to National Games medalists could inspire more people to develop their career in the sports field.”
The Chief Minister also announced that the house would send a goodwill message to boxer Lovlina Borgohain who will be vying for a medal in Tokyo Olympics.
Assam is one of the states of India where many people want to develop their career in a sports field and looking their future in this field. The traditional games of Assam like Dor (Running), Tarual Khel (Fencing), Kaar Khel (Archery), Rosi Tona (Rope Pulling), Hatur (Swiming), Nau Khel (Boat Racing), Hoi Kobadi (Kabaddi), etc are always played by the youth.
