APSEZ Fire Services honoured with Garv Award
Fire Services team of Adani Ports & SEZ (APSEZ) was recognized and conferred the prestigious Gujarat Fire Rescue & Safety Award organized by Garv at the Swarnimpark, Gandhinagar.
APSEZ received the award in recognition for saving six lives of truck drivers in critical road accident rescue operation and for going beyond their call of duty and attending more than 80 calls outside the port to support district authority and for saving national property worth Rs 11 crores. In addition to this, their in-house simulator-based capacity building training ground has been appreciated by India Book of Records 2022. What brings them this laurel is their incessant work of upgrading the skills of contract firefighters with internationally recognized Firefighter level 5 under PMO Skill India Programme. A total of 54 firefighters have received certificate which is recognized in 32 countries. Further, latest technologies have been introduced to enhance response time and to ease firefighting by digitisation of fire vehicles, installing GPS, CCTV, rear view camera for driver and fire crew safety, online learning for fire officers, and capacity building for making the workplace, state, and eventually the nation fire safe.
What added another star to the already glittery night was another Garv award conferred upon the Mundra LPG Terminal for best fire prevention practices and inbuilt design fire safety and its commitment towards modern technology to control fire accidents and save human lives in such incidents. Both the awards were received by Dr Rakesh Chaturvedi of APSEZ presented by Bollywood star Aditya Pancholi; Dr Prabhat Rahangdale, Retd. Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Ex Chief Fire Officer, Mumbai Fire Brigade; Dr DK Shami, Ex-National Fire Advisor, Ministry of Home Affairs; and SK Dheri, Former CFO of Delhi Fire Services.
To recognize the selfless heroes, ‘Garv’ Gujarat Fire Rescue and Safety Awards applauded innovative safety and working practices, safety-thinking projects and commitment to the values of the fire and emergency services. Fire service chiefs, their teams and services, suppliers and industry supporters got together in Gandhinagar, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the fire and emergency services.
The Gujarat Fire and Rescue Awards was a grand success fulfilling its objective of honouring the noble work of fire and rescue officers who selflessly served the people by risking their lives for the safety and security of the citizens of India.
‘GARV’ itself explains pride. Garv is an organization whose aim is to recognise and felicitate those superheroes of India who stay behind the curtains and make life easy for the fellow citizens through their never-ending, selfless acts. While our society is a great place to live due to the readiness of fire and rescue officers, it is imperative to identify these heroes and create awareness among the people of the country about their empathy, love, sensitivity, and selfless work.
The awards ceremony was attended by about 2000 guests, including fire and safety personnel and their families. Apart from this, various government ministers, Bollywood and Gujarati film actors, leaders and dignitaries were also present.
