Adani Foundation releases booklet highlighting success stories of fishing community in Gandhinagar
Ahmedabad, 16 October: The Adani Foundation has deep compassion and dedication towards the marginalized sections of society. In its journey of over 28 years of public welfare and social impact across India, the Foundation has succeeded in bringing about a remarkable change in the upliftment of the fishing community of Mundra. A special book based on the success stories of the fishermen community was launched at Gandhinagar. The book was launched by Dr. Narendra Meena, Director, Fisheries Department, Government of Gujarat. He lauded the contribution of the Adani Foundation while releasing the book.
In Mundra, the Adani Foundation has planned and implemented many development schemes, specially dedicated to improving the living conditions of over 6,500 people living in the fishing villages of Mundra. This book, titled, “Sea of Change”, reflects the lives of fishermen who have risen to new heights in the face of extreme conditions and have become beacons of hope for the community. The featured fisherfolks included in the book are ideal leaders of the community, who have been guide to the people.
On the occasion, Director of Fisheries, Dr. Narendra Meena congratulated the Adani Foundation and thanked the fishermen community for the visit. He said, “Several schemes of the government are useful for the upliftment of the fishing community. The Adani Foundation is doing a great job in bringing it to the beneficiaries”. He also explained to the students the importance of studies in life while having an encouraging conversation with the students of Adani Vidyamandir, Bhadreshwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Vasant Gadhvi, Executive Director of Adani Foundation said, “We have contributed solid positive social impact in Mundra for over 28 years. This journey is becoming more satisfying considering the life transformations of fisherfolks communities. They have benefitted from our education programs, health initiatives and skill development initiatives. I am glad our efforts are not only educating the next generation but also enabling fisherfolk youths to have alternative livelihood opportunities towards making their prospects both lucrative and sustainable. I am thankful to Dr Narendra Kumar Meena for sparing his precious time and meeting members of fisherfolk community who have been part of our journey in Mundra.”
The Adani Foundation has modernized fishing by launching various skill development programs for fishing families. The Adani Skill Development Center has helped youths to get employment and livelihood by equipping them with technical and vocational skills. By imparting quality education to the children of fishermen, Adani Vidya Mandir, Bhadreshwar, develops human values that brighten their future. The Adani Foundation, functioning under the guidance of Chairperson Dr. Priti Adani, aims to empower the people belonging to the fishing community with education, health and modern skills. Dr. Priti Adani met and congratulated the members of the fisherfolk community in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
The success stories of the fishing community are a living testimony of how well everyone’s life can be when given the right guidance and encouragement.
