Jodhpur: The curfew imposed by the Rajasthan administration in Jodhpur city has been extended till May 6, Friday. The District Police Commissioner issued an order in this regard to maintain peace and bring life back to normal in the city.

The curfew imposed in the Jodhpur Commissionerate area on May 3 has been extended till May 6. Raikabagh Palace Bus Stand and Raikabagh Railway Station have been excluded from the curfew.

According to the police, the situation is under control and no untoward incident has been reported since yesterday. In the last two days, 140 people have been arrested related to the violent clashes that happened on Monday night, just before Eid.

However, the order has granted some exemptions as students have been allowed to appear for examinations. Personnel engaged in medical services, Judicial officers, bank officials, and media persons have also been given permission to carry out their day-to-day work.

Internet services in the district will still remain suspended in order to avoid the spreading of rumours.

According to a media report, Himanshu Gupta, Jodhpur District Magistrate said that “the decision to resume mobile internet services will be taken after assessing the law & order situation. Currently, mobile internet services remain suspended,”

On May 2, Monday, clashes erupted between two communities after some miscreants replaced a religious flag of one of the communities at Balmukand Bissa at the Jalori Gate intersection circle in Jodhpur.
