New Delhi, Jan-16: The government may announce a vehicle scrappage policy very soon to reduce pollution and traffic on roads caused by the old vehicles and its fuel consumption.
Union Minister of Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that “The proposal for vehicle scrappage policy has been submitted and approval is awaited which might come soon.”
The vehicle scrappage policy will boost the selling of vehicles. People may go for the purchase of a new vehicle after scrapping their very old vehicle. It could increase the demand of vehicles in automobile sectors.
India may become a hub for the automobile industry once the policy is cleared. Price of Vehicles could reduce also as the recycled material from scrapped vehicles can be used to make new automobiles.
On the vehicle scrappage policy – the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that “We have submitted the proposal and I am expecting to get an approval as soon as possible.”
“We will take scrap from all over the world and here we will make an industry where we can use that material and cost will be less.” he added.
In the government’s scrappage policy – cars, buses and trucks will be destroyed which are more than 15 year old.
According to the automobile experts – old vehicles are consuming more fuel and creating more pollution in the air.
Policy to scrap more than 15 year old vehicles might be announced on February 1 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
A final decision on the matter will be taken by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Gadkari pointed out that the size of the automobile industry is Rs 4.5 lakh crore out of which Rs 1.5 lakh crore are exports.
Vehicle scraping policy could generate employment in many states of the nation.
