New Delhi: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday announced that farmers in Madhya Pradesh will receive adequate daytime electricity for irrigation and that the state has secured central approval to raise its wheat procurement target from 78 lakh metric tonnes to 100 lakh metric tonnes this season, calling it a recognition of farmers’ hard work.

He said slot bookings for selling wheat at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) have been fully opened for all farmers, regardless of scale, with procurement centres operating six days a week, including Saturdays. The deadline for bookings has also been extended from April 30 to May 9.

Addressing the public, especially the farming community, Yadav reiterated his government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, declaring that “true promises and concrete action” form the foundation of his administration. He stated that the vision of a “Developed Madhya Pradesh by 2047” depends on the strength of its agricultural sector.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to ensure daytime power supply for irrigation and noted that under the Krishak Mitra Yojana, solar pumps are being provided with a 90 per cent subsidy to promote energy self-reliance among farmers. He also pointed to growth in the dairy sector, with 1,752 new milk cooperatives set up and over Rs 1,600 crore already disbursed to producers.

The Chief Minister reiterated his goal of making the state the “Milk Capital of India.” He also announced enhanced land acquisition compensation, stating that farmers will now receive up to four times the value of their land, ensuring their rights are safeguarded.

To boost crop diversification, Yadav introduced measures to support pulses and oilseeds, including procurement of urad (black gram) at MSP with a Rs 600 per quintal bonus. He added that farmers are benefiting from improved mustard prices under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana.

CM Yadav said the state is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasising that farmers remain central to this growth.

He assured continued government support for the “Annadatas” and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening trust with the farming community.
