MUNDRA : In a poignant and grand celebration marking the 25th anniversary of Adani Public School (APS), Mundra, Dr. Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, reflected on the institution’s journey from a “quiet dream” to a “legacy in motion.” Addressing a gathering of alumni, parents, faculty, and students on Monday, Dr. Adani described the school as her “first child,” nurtured with unwavering faith and resilience through decades of transformation.

Recalling the school’s inception in 2001, Dr. Adani shared that coming from a medical background, education was initially outside her expertise. “Education was not my forte, but it was my leap of faith,” she remarked. “This institution teaches us lesson number one: no dream is ever small, and no dream is ever unattainable. Dream… and then have the courage to make it happen.”

The journey, however, was far from smooth. Dr. Adani recalled the early days of commuting from Ahmedabad and the immense challenge posed by the massive 2001 earthquake. While the disaster brought fear and uncertainty, the leadership chose to accelerate their plans rather than pause. “Have patience and practice resilience,” she advised, citing this as the second major lesson of the school’s history.

Dr. Adani paid tribute to the successive leaders who shaped the school’s identity. She credited founding principal Ms. Alka Lokre for sowing deep roots and integrating the DAV philosophy, and lauded the long-serving Mr. Rashmikant Makwana for his “mindset of a futurist” in bringing modern pedagogy to one of the country’s most remote areas. She also acknowledged the cultural dimensions added by Mr. K. J. Jose and the compassionate leadership of the current Director, Mrs. Ami Shah, and Principal Hemant Sharma.

“It takes a village to raise a child,” Dr. Adani noted, emphasizing her third lesson: that victory is always collective. “No great institution is ever built by one person alone.”

While the school has grown to a family of 100 teachers and over 2,400 students, Dr. Adani emphasized that the school’s greatest achievement is not the infrastructure, but the “potential unlocked.” She expressed immense pride in the alumni who now serve in the Navy, government, academics, business, and sports.

Addressing the current students directly, she urged them to strive for excellence: “Identify your potential, be true to yourself and your dreams. With persistence and resilience, let everything else follow.”

The evening, which featured spectacular performances by students, served as a bridge between the nostalgia of the past 25 years and the ambitions of the future. Dr. Adani concluded her address with a forward-looking vision, stating that as the “baby” she nurtured is now ready to fly, she expects the next 25 years to bring even more “remarkable and glorious laurels” to APS, Mundra.
