Weather Update: IMD Predicts Rainfall in New Delhi and Adjoining Areas
New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rainfall in New Delhi and north India on Tuesday, February 08, 2022, due to a fresh western disturbance in the country.
IMD took to Twitter and wrote, “Light intensity rain/drizzle would occur over isolated places of South Delhi, whereas Safdargunj and Lodi Road will experience light intensity rain/drizzle during the next two hours during next 2 hours.”
“Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi (Seemapuri, Kashmiri Gate, Shahadra, Patel Nagar, Red fort, Rajeev chauk, and ITO),” the IMD tweeted.
Talking about precipitation in other regions of the National Capital, the IMD tweeted, “Light to moderate intensity rain would occur over adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi (Pashchim Vihar, Pitampura, Delhi University, and Punjabi Bagh).”
Meanwhile, the Bharatpur, Khairthal, Alwar, and Nadbai districts of Rajasthan will experience thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain.
The IMD also forecasted light intensity rain/drizzle in the adjoining areas of the Iglas, Sikandra Rao, Raya, Hathras, and Mathura districts of Uttar Pradesh. It predicted light to moderate intensity intermittent rainfall in the Nandgaon and Agra districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The off-season rainfall is being experienced in the northern Indian states due to the presence of a western disturbance that lies as a cyclonic circulation over Pakistan with its axis at 3.1 km above the mean sea level.
