Vice President Radhakrishnan pays tribute to Pahalgam victims, reaffirms resolve against terror
New Delhi: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims on the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, reaffirming the country’s resolve to fight terrorism in all its forms.
In a post on X, the Vice President said, “I solemnly remember the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The innocent lives lost in that gruesome and dastardly act of terror remain etched in our collective memory. I pay heartfelt tributes to those we lost and stand in solidarity with their families, whose grief is immeasurable. They will forever be remembered.”
Reiterating India’s commitment against terrorism, he added, “Such acts of brutality can never shake our resolve to uphold peace, unity, and the enduring values of humanity. We remain firm in our determination to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, also paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. In a post on X, he said, “We remember the victims of the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack one year ago.”
He further added that such acts of violence cannot weaken the nation’s unity or determination, saying, “Terrorism seeks to break our spirit, but it has only succeeded in hardening our resolve.”
The attack, carried out on April 22, 2025, by The Resistance Front — an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba — saw terrorists open fire on tourists after identifying their religion, in one of the most brutal civilian-targeted incidents in recent years.
Among those killed were 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator who attempted to save them.
In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6–7, 2025. The well-coordinated strikes carried out by the Indian Armed Forces precisely hit nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), killing over 100 terrorists, their trainers, handlers, and associates. Most of the terrorists belonged to organisations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The operation inflicted maximum damage on terrorist infrastructure while minimising harm to the civilian population.
