UAE minister Reem Al Hashimy hails PM Modi as “true treasure” for Emirates ahead of visit
New Delhi: The United Arab Emirates is preparing to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Ahead of his visit, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, the UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, said the government is looking forward to the occasion with great excitement.
“We are anticipating with great excitement the visit of Prime Minister Modi tomorrow,” she said. “He is a key figure of friendship, of long-standing partnership, and a true treasure to the leadership and to the people of the UAE.”
Al Hashimy noted that ties between the two countries have been reinforced by a series of high-level exchanges this year alone. President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed visited India in January, followed by the Crown Prince’s trip to New Delhi in February for an Artificial Intelligence summit.
She added that the two leaderships have been meeting several times a year since Prime Minister Modi took office, and tomorrow’s visit is a continuation of that rhythm.
Beyond diplomacy, Al Hashimy pointed to the deep human connections that underpin the relationship. She described family members who travel to India for medical treatment and drew parallels between Emirati and Indian traditions of herbal and traditional medicine.
Trade, she said, has been an equally important thread — from the clothes people wear to the spices used in everyday cooking. With nearly 4.5 million Indians living in the UAE, she said the bond between the two nations is as much a people-to-people story as a diplomatic one.
“The future cannot be without a strong India and a strong UAE,” Al Hashimy said. “I look at the visit tomorrow, and likely subsequent visits of our leadership back to India, as important proof points of a trajectory that grows from strength to strength. I am confident that we will unlock new opportunities with one another — and we are better because of each other.”
