NEW DELHI, Mar 26: The Television actor Jennifer Mistry, who played the role of Mrs Roshan Singh Sodi in the popular sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has won the sexual harassment case against the show’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi.

Modi has been asked to pay her unpaid dues and also Rs 5 lakh in compensation. However, Mistry said that the verdict was passed 40 days ago, and she is yet to receive the due amount from Modi.

When queried by media, Ms Mistry said, “It’s true. I won but I am partially happy. It has been over 40 days since the verdict has been passed, and I haven’t been paid my due amount, for which I worked hard. It’s more than one year since my amount was due but not paid, and no justice has been done yet.”

The actor also pointed out that in her complaint she also mentioned the names of ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ project head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj, but “no punishment” was given to them.

“I went to file a case against all three of them, but Sohail and Jatin weren’t included in the verdict, so I am not happy. It’s my amount that the local committee has ordered to give me, as I deserve this amount. They proved Asit Modi guilty of sexual harassment, which I knew about from the beginning. What is new about it?” added Mistry.

Mistry said that the current verdict from the Local Complaints Committee only proves that her sexual harassment case against Modi was “not fabricated.” She said, “What about the trauma I went through in the last year? On the contrary, the culprits are roaming freely, posing as innocent. The only thing is this verdict from the learned government authorities clears all air that my case was not fabricated, nor was I playing the woman card, nor was I doing cheap publicity, as many judged me initially. I was just stating the facts. I am happy that sexual harassment against me was recognised. However, I don’t feel I am being given proper justice.”

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been running on television since 2008. However, many actors have left the show. Earlier, actor Shailesh Lodha, who played the role of Taarak Mehta, had also taken legal action against the makers of the serial for unpaid dues.
