Tremblor of magnitude 3.7 strikes Ladakh
New Delhi: A mild earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 3.7 on the Richter scale struck the Kargil district of Ladakh on Wednesday, 18 May 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared seismographs highlighting the affected areas on Twitter.
Informing about the tremblor, the NCS tweeted, “Earthquake of magnitude 3.7 occurred on May 18, 2022, 07:37 IST on latitude 35.94 and longitude 75.17 with a depth of 32 km located 177km North-Northwest (NNW) of Kargil, Ladakh, India.”
No reports of property damages or casualties surfaced so far. The area of Ladakh surrounding Kargil and adjoining areas is an earthquake-prone region that experience string of earthquakes each month.
