Tremblor: A 6.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Malaysia
New Delhi: A strong tremblor measuring a 6.1 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, during the early hours of August 29, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on twitter, highlighting the affected areas.
“Earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred on August 29, 2022, 08:59 IST on latitude -0.97 and longitude 98.68 with a depth of 10km located 566km SW of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,” the NCS informed.
An earthquake hit the waters off the South-Western coast of Sumatra Island around 9:30 pm near Bengkulu, South Sumatra, and Lampung provinces on last Tuesday.
The epicentre was located in the sea, around 64 kilometres from the shore. However, no reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far.
