Tremblor: A 4.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Afghanistan
New Delhi: A mild earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted the Fayzabad and adjoining districts of Afghanistan on August 31, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter, highlighting the affected areas. The tremblor was also reportedly felt near the Indo-Afghan border in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred on August 31, 2022, at 10:20 IST on latitude 38.70 and longitude 71.97 with a depth of 20 Km located 217km NE of Fayzabad, Afghanistan,” the NCS informed.
The region falls under an active seismic zone and has experienced several tremblors in the past few months. However, no reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far.
