Tremblor: A 3.4 earthquake jolts J&K
New Delhi: Another tremblor measuring a magnitude intensity of 3.4 on the Richter scale jolted Katra and other adjoining districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter, highlighting the affected areas.
“Earthquake of magnitude 3.4 occurred on August 27, 2022, 09:06 IST on latitude 33.10 and longitude 75.57 with a depth of 5km located 60 km ENE of Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, India,” the NCS informed.
The region falls under a seismic zone and has been experiencing frequent tremblors since the past few months.
The last tremblor occurred in the region Friday, August 26, 2022. The NCS informed about the earthquake and tweeted, “Earthquake of Magnitude 3.4 occurred on August 26, 2022 at 03:28 IST on latitude 33.17 and longitude 75.57 with a depth of 5km located 62km ENE of Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, India.”
However, no reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far.
