Tremblor: A 3.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Arunachal Pradesh
New Delhi: A mild earthquake measuring a magnitude intensity of 3.1 on the Richter scale jolted the Basar district and adjoining regions of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, September 16, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) shared a seismograph on Twitter, highlighting the affected areas.
According to NCS, the tremblor struck the Northeastern state of India around 11 am. The epicentre of the earthquake was reportedly located 45 km west of the Basar district of Arunachal Pradesh.
“Earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred on September 16, 2022, at 10:51 IST on latitude 27.94 and longitude 94.23 with a depth of 10km located 45km W of Basar, Arunachal Pradesh, India,” the NCS tweeted.
However, no reports of damages or casualties surfaced so far. Arunachal Pradesh lies in an active seismic zone and experiences several tremblors every year.
