Tremblor: 6.0 magnitude earthquake jolts Japan
New Delhi: An earthquake of magnitude 6 on the Richter scale jolted the capital city of Tokyo and the adjoining Bonin Islands on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) took to twitter and shared a seismograph, highlighting the affected areas.
“Earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred on June 21, 2022, 12:44 IST on latitude 27.88 and longitude 142.59 with a depth of 20 km located 910 km South-Southeast (SSE) of Tokyo, Japan,” the NCS informed.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued a tsunami forecast on Tuesday. The advisory predicted a slight change in the sea level surrounding a string of remote islands including Chichijima, a part of the Bonin Islands.
The Bonin Islands are situated SSE of the Japanese capital.
The JMA warned of imminent earthquakes after the Ishikawa Prefecture region in central Japan was rocked by a series of tremblors on Sunday.
