New Delhi: Inflation in the United Kingdom slipped to its lowest in three months ended March 2025, according to the Bank of England’s released data.
Inflation slowed at an annual rate of 2.6 percent in March from 2.8 percent in February, and below expectations of 2.7 percent, stated the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Unlike in 2024, when prices surged menacingly, the UK is witnessing a decline in inflation in recent months.
While the fall in fuel prices and unchanged food prices were the major cause of the latest decline in the inflation, the prices of clothes rose after softening in the previous month, ONS stated.
The BoE’s fresh forecasts show inflation is set to peak at 3.7 percent in the third quarter this year – nearly double the central bank’s 2 percent target – driven mostly by energy costs and regulated tariffs for household utility bills and bus fares.
