The Fourth Wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is likely to occur: Polish Health Minister
New Delhi: Amid rising Delta and Delta Plus variant cases of coronavirus in the United Kingdom (UK) and other nations of the world, Adam Niedzielski – Health Minister of Poland warned that “The Fourth Wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is likely to occur, and probably in mid of the August.”
A surge of cases similar to the one, that is taking place in the UK, where the Delta variant has caused rising infection numbers. Niedzielski told the media on Tuesday.
On Mask wearing and social distancing, he said that “Mask wearing will remain compulsory for the time being.”
Niedzielski emphasized that while the Delta variant seems more infectious than previous mutations of the coronavirus, vaccines appear to prevent serious symptoms and hospitalization.
Vaccinations in Poland will remain free of charge until at least September, he said.
According to the Health Department of Poland, Around 11.7 million people have been fully vaccinated so far, which is around 30 percent of its total population, and the country has administered a total of 27,512,324 vaccine doses till date.
Since the pandemic began last year, Poland has registered 2,879,811 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 75,005 deaths.
According to a media report, the European region was the epicenter of coronavirus during the first wave.
Olivier Veran – Health Minister of France also said that “The highly contagious Covid-19 Delta variant “now accounts for about 20 percent of new cases” in France. The Delta variant “is gradually becoming dominant (in France) as it is in all countries in the world.
The same virus variant had represented 9 to 10 percent of new infections according to official figures released a week ago.
