NEW DELHI, Aug 12: An alleged terrorist tasked to kill the suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma has been arrested from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The UP police said Mohammad Nadeem, who hailed from Gangoh village in Saharanpur, was being controlled by Pak-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed. The 25-year-old has accepted that he was tasked by a terrorist from Pakistan’s Jaish to kill Nupur Sharma, said a top official. The terrorist has also named his Indian accomplices in the case and an investigation is underway, said police.

Nupur Sharma was suspended as spokesperson for the BJP after her comments about the Prophet triggered huge protests in India and a series of official complaints by Gulf countries.

Police said Mohammed Nadeem was ready to travel to Pakistan for arms training which was revealed from his phone records and messages. His phone records also show a complete course on how to build Improvised Explosive Device (IED), said police. Additionally, chat and voice messages with Jaish and Thereek-e- Taliban, have also been recovered from Nadeem’s phone, police claimed.

Police said Mohammed Nadeem was in touch with the terror groups through WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook Massenger, Club House and other social media.
