Sanskrit connects all the Indian languages; NEP 2020 strengthens this vision, says VP Radhakrishnan

New Delhi: Vice President C P. Radhakrishnan has said that Sanskrit is the golden string which connects all the Indian languages. Addressing the Second Convocation of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University in New Delhi today, Mr Radhakrishnan said, every Indian language is great and they have contributed towards the culture of the nation. He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several initiatives for the promotion of the Sanskrit language along with other languages.

The Vice President said, the National Education Policy 2020 has further strengthened this vision by placing special emphasis on the Indian Knowledge System. He said, it encourages universities and educational institutions to incorporate the Indian Knowledge System into their academic programmes. Mr Radhakrishnan said, Sanskrit holds a glorious place in the world of science, literature, and philosophy. He said, even today, rare Sanskrit manuscripts are found not only in India but also in countries such as Nepal, Tibet and China. The Vice President said, the launch of the Gyan Bharatam Mission by the Government marks another significant step.

In his address, Union Minister of State for Education Dr Sukanta Majumdar said, India is moving forward by combining its rich traditions with modern technology. He said the National Education Policy 2020 has placed Indian languages and traditions at the centre of education so that students remain connected with their roots. Mr. Majumdar urged students to understand Sanskrit along with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital technology, in the era of rapid technological advancement.
