Roving Periscope: Elon Musk accuses George Soros of “hatred of humanity”

New Delhi: The world’s wealthiest man Elon Musk has accused highly controversial billionaire and “philanthropist” George Soros, 94, whom the outgoing US President Joe Biden awarded the Presidential Medal for Freedom this week, of “hatred of humanity.”
Critics said the outgoing Democratic President selected Soros because he was given the freedom to fund not just terror-linked NGOs but also the anarchists trying to topple even democratically-elected governments!
Days after Soros’ son received the Medal—which Musk denounced as a “travesty”—the Tesla chief targeted the billionaire again, accusing him of “hatred of humanity” and linking it to Israel, following his controversial financial support of NGOs allegedly linked to Hamas.
Musk’s comment came after reports about Israeli UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan’s condemnation of Soros for donating USD15 million to NGOs that allegedly support the Hamas terror outfit. Hamas invaded Israel in October 2023, killed over 1,200 innocent people, and took hostage nearly 250 others. In retaliation, Israel counterattacked the Gaza Strip. In the ongoing war, nearly 50,000 people have died and the Gaza Strip has suffered wanton destruction.
In a fresh post on X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla chief wrote, “George Soros’ hatred of humanity includes Israel btw.”
This remark is the latest in a series of attacks Musk has directed at Soros.
Earlier, he had shared a meme comparing Soros to Darth Sidious (Sheev Palpatine) from Star Wars, suggesting that the billionaire, like Palpatine, may be concealing his real intentions behind a facade of philanthropy. The meme was captioned, “George Soros looking quite good here. Must be the lighting.”
Soros has long faced criticism, particularly from conservative circles. Last year, Musk compared him to Magneto, the X-Men supervillain, and in a conversation with journalist Brian Krassenstein, he reiterated his claim that Soros “hates humanity,” without offering evidence to support this assertion.
In December last year, Erdan told Fox News that Soros’ donations are shameful. “George Soros’ donations to organizations that seek the destruction of the Jewish State of Israel are shameful. However, I am not surprised,” he said.
In India, the ruling BJP has also accused the Congress Party with links to Soros, and working against the Modi-led NDA Government. The BJP accused Congress leader Sonia Gandhi of having ties to organizations funded by the billionaire, which have taken anti-India positions on issues such as Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress rejected these accusations.
Soros has also been linked to controversies surrounding the Adani Group, with claims that organizations the American nonagenarian financed were involved with the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). The OCCRP has alleged that the Adani Group used opaque funds from Mauritius to funnel investments into its companies.
