Politics: Yoshihide Suga will be the new Prime Minister of Japan
New Delhi: A Few days ago the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had announced his resign from the authority and Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, the right-hand man of outgoing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, was elected as the new president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Monday. Shinzo Abe had left the authority due to his health issue.
Yoshihide Suga, who says he lacks the “diplomatic skills” to be chummy with Donald Trump, is one step away from being Japan’s new Prime Minister.
The 71-year-old Suga, known as Abe’s trusted aide, won 377 votes out of 534 votes cast, and 535 possible votes, in the LDP election by the party’s members of parliament and representatives of its 47 local chapters.
Suga has the experience of key government adviser, spokesman and policy enforcer. Suga already served in various political roles including as chief cabinet secretary.
Over the success, Suga said “I, with this background, was able to become the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party with all its history and tradition. I will devote the whole of myself to Japan and the Japanese people,”
