The theme of IMC 2026 is “Scale Without Boundaries”, reflecting India’s growing capabilities in digital innovation, next-generation connectivity and technology-led growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi said that the India Mobile Congress platform has witnessed the evolution of the telecom sector and digital connectivity in India. He said that 5G connectivity has now reached every district of the country. Mr Modi added that there are now more than five lakh 50 thousand base stations operating 5G connectivity across India.
On the occasion, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that Prime Minister Modi has always emphasised that technology must reach not only the last village but every single citizen. He added that the proliferation of technology can only take place when it is affordable and inclusive. Mr Scindia said that in 2014, one gigabyte of data cost 268 rupees, whereas today it costs only around eight rupees, making India one of the countries with the cheapest data in the world.
The Minister lauded equipment manufacturers, telecom operators and every employee of the telecom sector for their contribution to making 5G the fastest-adopted 5G technology in the world. He said that India today has 550 million 5G users and that IMC 2026 will showcase India’s digital capabilities.
India Mobile Congress focuses on innovation and next-generation digital infrastructure, technology-led economic growth, inclusive digital access, and the development of secure and resilient digital ecosystems. The event has brought together global technology leaders, policymakers, industry experts, startups, investors and innovators to explore emerging opportunities across the digital ecosystem.
The event will also expand its sectoral focus to four new domains: smart mobility, stadium experiences, industrial robotics and transport technology. More than 1.5 lakh attendees from over 100 countries, along with over 500 partners and exhibitors and 600 startups, are participating in the event.
