New Delhi: In cash-strapped and terror-infested Pakistan, more than 172,000 people left the country in just three months this year—January to March 2025—for better job opportunities abroad.
Nearly 100,000 individuals of the 172,144 who left were categorized as general labourers, according to the official data released by the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BI&OE).
Saudi Arabia emerged as the top destination for Pakistani migrants, followed by Oman, and the UAE. Other destinations included Qatar, Bahrain, Malaysia, Turkey, Greece, the UK, Germany, etc.
Among skilled labour, 38,274 were drivers, 1,859 masons, 2,130 electricians, 1,689 cooks, 3,474 technicians, and 1,058 were welders.
Praising these jobseekers, Army chief General Asim Munir said they are ambassadors of Pakistan who will showcase the brilliance, resilience, and talent of their nation.
