NEW DELHI, August 24: The prime minister Narendra Modi, the union home minister Amit Shah, his son Rohan Jaitley and a large number of BJP leaders paid rich tributes to the memory of the former union minister Arun Jaitley on his first death anniversary on Monday.
On this day, last year, we lost Shri Arun Jaitley Ji. I miss my friend a lot.
Arun Ji diligently served India. His wit, intellect, legal acumen and warm personality were legendary.
Here is what I had said during a prayer meeting in his memory. https://t.co/oTcSeyssRk

A lawyer by profession and cricket administrator by choice, Jaitley had served in both the Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Modi governments and was among the few political leaders to be awarded Padma Vibhushan for his immense contributions in the public life. One of his prominent roles as the union finance minister was to piloting the government during the difficult days following the demonetization of the high value currency notes in 2016. He was among the few politicians to be liked and respected even by the opposition.
Remembering Arun Jaitley ji, an outstanding politician, prolific orator and a great human being who had no parallels in Indian polity. He was multifaceted and a friend of friends, who will always be remembered for his towering legacy, transformative vision and devotion to nation.
