UP Assembly Election: West Bengal CM may extend support to Akhilesh Yadav
Kanpur: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may extend her support to Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh (UP) assembly election to give tough competition to other political parties – especially the ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to the sources – Earlier, Banerjee and Yadav were expected to hold a public rally together – But the plan was canceled after the Election Commission banned poll rallies till January 22 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A few weeks back – The TMC supremo said, “Party was ready to extend support to Yadav for the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh if required. If Akhilesh wants, then we are ready to extend our help to him.”
TMC leader Laliteshpati Tripathi had said that Uttar Pradesh is not the immediate focus of the TMC and that the party’s main focuses are Goa and Tripura, where it is set to make electoral debut in the upcoming elections.
A few days back – Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut had said that his party will fight the UP assembly election alone. Shivsena will not be a part of any alliance.
Elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases on February 10, 14, 23, 27, March 3, and 7, and the results for the 403-member Assembly will be declared on March 10.
