Nation pays tribute to the father of the Indian Constitution
New Delhi, April 14: On the occasion of the 133rd birth anniversary of the father of the nation, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the country paid tribute to him for his immeasurable contribution to the formation of the Indian constitution.
To pay homage to B.R. Ambedkar, the government of India organised the Baba Sahib Ambedkar Yatra and flagged off the yatra on April 14. The yatra is conducted by the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train from New Delhi’s Hazrat Nazimuddin Railway Station, and under the Dekho Apna Desh initiative, the train will move forward and cover the prominent sites that are associated with the life of Baba Sahib Ambedkar.
At the flag off ceremony, Ashwini Vaishnav, the minister of railway communication and electronic and information technology, Dr. Virendra Kumar, the union minister of social justice and empowerment, and G.K. Reddy, the union minister for culture, tourism, and DoNER, presented at the event.
Later on, the celebration event is going to be organised on the Parliament House lawns in New Delhi on the evening of the 133rd birth anniversary.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, also paid floral tribute to him on the occasion.
Not only the government, but many organisations and citizens of India conduct various cultural events, presenting flowers, lighting candles, and other acts of appreciation as a tribute to Dr. Ambedkar.
Baba Saheb Ambedkar was the pioneer member and an Indian jurist, economist, social reformer, and political leader who chaired the drafting committee of the Indian Constitution Assembly. He later became India’s first minister for law and justice. He also worked to give rights to the Dalit community as well as fought for quality.
