New Delhi, June 19: Young Argentine motor biker Lorenzo Somaschine, aged 9 years, died after suffering serious injuries in a crash during a practice session at a junior competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the media reported on Tuesday.
According to the event organizers of Superbike Brazil, Lorenzo had an accident when he was riding in the free practice for the Honda Junior Cup on Friday last.
After the crash, he was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil where he died on Monday.
“Everyone on the Superbike Brazil team is appalled by this accident and expresses our sincere sorrow to all of Lorenzo’s family and friends.” the organizers said in a statement. Lorenzo made his debut in the Buenos Aires super biking in April 2024.
The Honda Junior Cup attracts young riders aged between 8 and 16 years to race on modified motorbikes, reaching speeds of up to 100 km per hour.
