New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, wishing prosperity, good health, and happiness for all citizens.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister highlighted the spiritual significance of the festival and its message of charity and virtuous living.
“Heartfelt wishes to the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. This sacred festival inspires us to tread the path of virtuous deeds, charity, and service. May this occasion bring happiness, prosperity, and good health to everyone’s life. May all attain the eternal fruits, that is the earnest wish,” the Prime Minister said.
Akshay Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, is observed on the third day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. The term ‘Akshay’ signifies something that never diminishes, symbolising eternal prosperity, success, and good fortune. The day is considered highly auspicious for new beginnings, investments, and charitable acts.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings on the occasion, describing the festival as a blend of nature and culture. “Heartfelt greetings on the sacred festival of Akshay Tritiya. May this holy festival, a confluence of nature and culture, bring boundless joy and prosperity into everyone’s lives,” he said.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda conveyed his wishes, praying for prosperity and good fortune for all citizens. “I extend my heartfelt wishes to all of you on the auspicious festival of Akshay Tritiya… May this sacred festival bring unending merit, good fortune, and prosperity into everyone’s lives,” he said.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also greeted the people of the state. “On this auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya… I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the residents of the state,” he said, adding that he prayed for happiness, prosperity, and fulfilment of noble deeds in everyone’s lives.
The festival is traditionally marked by prayers, charity, and spiritual observances. Devotees begin the day with a holy bath, often in sacred rivers like the Ganga or at home using water infused with Gangajal. Many also observe fasting and perform puja before concluding the day with sattvic meals.
Akshay Tritiya is widely believed to bring lasting benefits for any good deeds, investments, or charitable acts undertaken on this day.
