New Delhi: Trying to divert the attention of fellow Sindhis, who have long been agitating against Islamabad and Punjab over persistent water crisis, former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Zardari Bhutto has threatened India over the Indus Water Treaty (IWT).
“Either our water will flow or their blood,” he boasted.
The Sindh-based Pakistan People Party leader warned India of a bloodbath leading to full-fledged war over the suspension of the IWT by New Delhi after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam this week, killing at least 26 civilian tourists.
Addressing a public rally, Bilawal, whose party is part of the multi-party ruling coalition, declared, “I want to tell India that the Indus is ours and will remain ours. Either our water will flow through it, or their blood will.”
He also accused India of scapegoating Pakistan over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam to hide India’s intelligence failure and security lapses and criticized New Delhi regarding the diplomatic and economic measures that India has taken in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack.
The terrorist group that took responsibility for the attack, The Resistance Front (TRF), is the proxy organization of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Bilawal Bhutto also had a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, regarding the treaty suspension and other diplomatic actions, such as the closure of the Atari-Wagha border and the visa cancellation of Pakistani nationals.
