Indian Army to Train Civil Defence Master Trainers Across 12 States, UTs

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry will launch a first-of-its-kind pilot initiative to strengthen civil defence preparedness by providing specialised training to Civil Defence Master Trainers through the Indian Army. The training will be conducted by the Directorate General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards, with the aim of establishing a robust civil defence network across the country.
The Ministry said the three-day training programme will be conducted in 12 States and Union Territories in the first phase. These include Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Keralam, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
A total of 600 Civil Defence Master Trainers, with 50 from each participating State and Union Territory, are proposed to be trained by the second week of November this year.
In his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the vision of building a vibrant civil defence network equipped with modern systems, advanced technologies and contemporary preparedness capabilities.
The initiative aims to enhance the ability of civil defence personnel to respond effectively to emerging security threats, hostile situations and emergencies. The training programme will cover three key areas: threat awareness; protection and emergency response; and communication and coordination.
