Indian Army to host 11 nations for multilateral exercise ‘Pragati’ in Meghalaya

New Delhi: The Indian Army will host military delegations from 11 friendly nations for the first edition of the multilateral exercise ‘Pragati’ at the Foreign Training Node in Umroi, Meghalaya.

The exercise is aimed at strengthening defence cooperation, improving interoperability, and fostering mutual trust among participating countries. The Indian Army said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to collective security an d regional stability.

In a post on X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) noted that the exercise highlights the importance of collaboration among regional forces. ‘Pragati’—short for Partnership of Regional Armies for Growth and Transformation in the Indian Ocean Region—symbolises efforts toward cooperative growth and security.

Separately, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi visited his alma mater, Sainik School Rewa, on Tuesday. The visit was marked by a sense of pride and nostalgia as he returned to the institution that helped shape his military career.

During his visit, General Dwivedi laid a wreath at the school memorial and reviewed a Guard of Honour presented by the cadets. He also interacted with students and faculty, praising them for maintaining the school’s traditions of discipline and excellence.

Addressing the cadets, he urged them to lead with integrity, serve with dedication, and stay committed to the nation, highlighting the lasting role of Sainik Schools in developing future military leaders.
