IMD predicts rainfall in Southern parts of India
New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted fairly widespread as well as isolated very heavy rainfall over southern parts of India between August 01 and August 05, 2022.
The IMD shared a rainfall distribution map on Twitter on Monday, August 01, 2022.
“Fairly widespread/widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Telangana from August 01 and August 03-05; Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep during August 01-04; South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on August 05, and over Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe during during August 01 to August 05, 2022,” the IMD tweeted.
Predicting extremely heavy rainfall, the IMD wrote, “Isolated very heavy rainfall likely over Rayalaseema on August 01; Coastal and Southern Karnataka during August 02-05; North interiors of Karnataka on August 03 and August 04; and over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe during August 01 to August 04, 2022.”
“Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during August 01-03; Kerala and Mahe during August 01-04; South interior Karnataka on August 03 and August 04; and Coastal Karnataka on August 04 and August 05, 2022,” the IMD added.
