IMD predicts rainfall in Northwest and Central India
New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rainfall in the North-Western and Central parts of India on Monday, May 23, 2022.
The IMD shared a spatial distribution map with caption, “Wet spell over Northwest India and Madhya Pradesh on May 23, and decrease in intensity and distribution thereafter.”
IMD also predicted thunder in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan, and Delhi on Monday. “Isolated thunder squall (50-60 kmph) activity also very likely over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan today,” it read.
“Isolated hailstorm also likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on May 23 and 24; over Punjab and Northwest Madhya Pradesh on May 23, 2022,” IMD tweeted.
Talking about heavy rainfall in the Northernmost states, IMD wrote, “Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today.”
Informing about widespread rainfall in Eastern parts of India, IMD wrote, “Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm, gusty winds likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha during next 2 days and reduce thereafter.”
“Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Odisha on May 24, 2022,” it added.
