IMD predicts heatwave conditions over Gujarat and East India
New Delhi: On Monday, April 25, 2022, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heatwave conditions over Gujarat and East India during the next 4-5 days.
The IMD took to Twitter and revealed, “Heatwave conditions over Gujarat state and east India to persist during next 4-5 days, likely to commence over central and northwest India from April 27, 2022.”
The department observed heatwave conditions in isolated pockets over the Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat. The maximum temperature observed in the Amreli district of the Saurashtra and Kutch region was 42.0 degrees Celsius, whereas the maximum temperature of Ahmedabad district was 42.1 degrees Celsius on Monday.
“Heatwave conditions very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Gujarat state and Odisha during next five days, over North coastal Andhra Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during April 25-27, West Rajasthan and Madhya Maharashtra during April 26-29, and over Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal during April 25 to April 28, 2022,” the press release read.
