IAF Plane Crashed, Pilots Safe

NEW DELHI, Feb 6: An Indian Air Force aircraft crashed in Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh, Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore said.

Mr Rathore said the two pilots had safely ejected from the plane before it crashed and have received only minor injuries. The aircraft, a Mirage-2000, had taken off from the Gwalior Airbase and crashed near Karera town of Shivpuri.

Mr Rathore said an IAF team from Gwalior has arrived in Shivpuri and will be taking the pilots with them. The IAF has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the incident, it said in an X post.

The IAF said crash took place following a system malfunction during a routine sortie. “A Mirage 2000 aircraft of the IAF crashed near Shivpuri (Gwalior), during a routine training sortie today, after encountering a system malfunction. Both the pilots ejected safely,” the IAF wrote. “An enquiry has been ordered by the IAF, to ascertain the cause of the accident,” it added.
