New Delhi, June 27: Football star Phil Foden temporarily left the England national team at Euro 2024 camp in Germany and returned to the UK to be with his wife for the birth of their third child, the media reported on Thursday.
In the statement, the Football Association (FA) of England said “Foden returned to the UK for a pressing family matter, and permission was given.”
According to the UK media reports, he will rejoin the team on Sunday, when England will play against Slovakia in the last 16.
In April, Foden and his wife Rebecca Cooke announced on their social media accounts they were expecting a third child.
Foden,24, debuted in England’s national team in September 2020 and has earned 37 caps. Four years in the national team, Foden has represented England at three major tournaments including the World Cup and Euros.
