Depression over NW Arabian Sea to weaken into a Low Pressure Area during next 06 hours: IMD
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been constantly monitoring the movement of the depression over the Arabian Sea.
The department witnessed fresh developments in the depression that prevails over the North-western region of the Arabian Sea.
According to the department, the depression has significantly weakened and will reduce to a well-marked low pressure area during the next six hours. The depression is also set to re-curve North-Northeastwards before it further weakens gradually.
Informing about the recent movements of the depression, the IMD wrote, “The depression over the northwest Arabian Sea to move Northwestwards and weaken into a well marked low pressure area during next six hours. It would recurve north-Northeastwards and weaken further gradually.”
The Depression is equally affecting the rainfall in Gujarat and adjoining regions. The IMD shared a rainfall distribution map on Twitter with a caption that read, “Isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning over Gujarat region during August 13 to August 17, 2022; Saurashtra and Kutch on August 13, August 16 and August 17, 2022.”
The isolated heavy rainfall with thunder/lightning will be experienced in East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during August 13-15; Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, West Madhya Pradesh during August 13-16; and Vidarbha on August 14 and August 15, 2022.
Meanwhile, IMD forecasted a low-pressure area that has formed over North of the Bay of Bengal as on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
“A low pressure area has formed over north Bay of Bengal at 0830 hours IST of today, the 13th August. It is likely to move west-northwestwards, become well marked during next 12 hours and concentrate into a depression during subsequent 24 hours,” it said.
