New Delhi: The Union Ministry for Human Resource Development (HRD) has said that annual examinations for Class 10 students will not be conducted by CBSE anywhere in India except in the North-East Delhi.

Ending speculations regarding holding of examinations for the remaining papers of Class 10, the Ministry said on Tuesday that no board examinations will be held for the Class 10 students nationwide, except for the students from North-East Delhi where they had missed out in six subjects due to sectarian violence in February and then in March due to the nationwide lockdown to check the spread of COVID-19 global pandemic.

The decision came hours after Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said  that a decision on holding the board exams would be taken soon.

The Ministry tweeted that adequate time of 10 days will be given to the students for the preparation of examinations.

Pokhriyal also said that the dates for the CBSE Board examinations for Class 10 and 12 will be announced in a day or two.

Examinations for six papers–Hindi Course A, Hindi Course B, English Communication, English Language, Social Science and Science–are still pending for Class 10 students.

Examinations for Class 12 subjects are also pending, the dates for which could be announced in the next couple of days.

The JEE (Main) exam for admissions in engineering colleges in the country will be held from July 18 to 23 while the NEET exam for admission into medical colleges will be conducted on July 26.
