Corona in France: Infections hit three-month high
New Delhi: The latest data declared by the French government on coronavirus spread in the country could be the red signal for local people. The Government of France Wednesday registered 31,519 new Covid-19 cases which is the biggest one-day jump since mid-November last year.
Local authorities in France may announce partial lockdown to fight the virus resurgence.
On 17th November 2020 – The government of France had reported 45,522 coronavirus cases in a single day.
Date declared by the French government says that more than 3.66 million people in France have been infected by the deadliest coronavirus and around 85,300 people have died so far.
Health Minister of France – Olivier Veran said that “The epidemic situation is deteriorating in our country…The epidemic has stopped decreasing and in some places it can even increase.”
Veran during his visit to the northern city of Dunkirk – said that “We erased in one week the two consecutive weeks of decline that we had recorded so far,” In Dunkirk – the incidence rate rose to over 900 per 100,000 residents per week, nearly nine times the national average.
The spokesperson of government also expressed tension on the spread of coronavirus and said “Around 10 of France’s 102 departments are now in a very worrying situation, which requires rapid and strong measures,”
France has already decided against a new lockdown in some of its areas and imposed night curfew. France has boosted vaccination campaigns to bring the epidemic under control.
Around 2.6 million people in France are vaccinated so far and have received their first doses of vaccines.
French media reported that “The French government aims to vaccinate up to 4 million vulnerable people and frontline workers later this month.”
As the world is struggling to contain the pandemic, vaccination is also underway in many other countries with the already-authorised coronavirus vaccines.
