New Delhi: Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) organised 1,174 programmes across all 36 states and Union Territories on October 17, drawing 3,43,288 young people and citizens as part of the fifth week of its Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat campaign.
The programmes focused on yoga, meditation and community discussions to promote healthy lifestyles and awareness about substance abuse prevention, according to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Held under the themes “Yoga & Meditation for Nasha Mukt Yuva” and “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Par Charcha”, the events formed part of the ongoing 100-week campaign.
Participants took a drug-free youth pledge and joined yoga and meditation sessions, awareness discussions and other youth engagement activities. Neighbourhood Youth Parliament discussions provided a platform for young people to exchange views on building a drug-free India.
The initiative was organised in collaboration with spiritual organisations, university associations and industry bodies. Partners included Heartfulness, Project Point, CIPU, ASSOCHAM, FICCI, CII and Brahma Kumaris.
A total of 3,380 activities were conducted within the programmes, while 3,43,288 pledges were taken, the release said.
The campaign seeks to encourage physical and mental well-being while strengthening community participation in preventing substance abuse. MY Bharat said it would continue to mobilise young people and partner organisations through the 100-week initiative to support healthier, drug-free communities.
