HM Amit Shah criticises Punjab govt over drug menace, to meet families of anti-drug activists killed in state

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Punjab tomorrow to share the pain of those bereaved families whose members have recently been killed for raising their voices against drug traffickers in the state. In a social media post, Mr Shah blamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for the prevailing drug menace in Punjab, which has caused many families to lose their sons. He will be meeting the families of those who recently lost their lives in Mansa, Gurdaspur and Sangrur districts, when they raised their voices against the ‘chitta’ (synthetic drug) traffickers, who have allegedly been flourishing under the patronage of the AAP government.

He said the grief these families are enduring is beyond words and any attempt to silence those who speak out against drugs will never succeed. Mr Shah said the Government of India will systematically track down these drug traffickers and put them behind bars, ensuring that Punjab and the entire nation- gets rid of the the drug menace.
