New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reaffirmed India’s strong support for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, saying that New Delhi stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with Abu Dhabi amid growing regional instability in West Asia.

Addressing the UAE leadership, PM Modi described the UAE as his “second home” and thanked the Emirati side for the warm reception extended to him. He said the escort provided by UAE Air Force aircraft during his arrival was “a matter of pride for the people of India.”

The Prime Minister also thanked the UAE leadership for expressing condolences over the recent natural disaster in Uttar Pradesh.

Referring to the broader regional security situation in West Asia, PM Modi said India strongly condemns any attacks on the UAE, adding that such actions are unacceptable in any form.

Praising the UAE leadership’s handling of the situation, he said, “In these difficult circumstances, the restraint, courage, and wisdom you have shown are highly commendable.”

Prime Minister Modi added that the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia is being felt globally and reiterated India’s support for dialogue and diplomacy, while stressing that keeping the Strait of Hormuz “free, open and safe” remains a top priority.

He also welcomed efforts under the UAE leadership to maintain “national unity, security, and regional integrity.”

PM Modi expressed appreciation to the UAE government and the royal family for their support to the Indian community in the Gulf nation, saying they had been treated “like members of their own family” during difficult times.

Further, the Prime Minister underlined the growing importance of the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership, noting that both sides had agreed during the UAE President’s January visit to India to further upgrade cooperation, with “remarkable progress” already achieved across sectors. He said India and the UAE would continue to move forward together in all fields, reiterating India’s commitment to work with the UAE for peace and stability in the region.
