NEW DELHI, Sept 1: A Pakistani national, who entered India illegally through the Nepal border in November 2022 to meet his wife in Hyderabad, has been arrested.

Police said Faiz Mohammed (24), who hailed from Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, had entered India via the Nepal border without a valid Visa or passport. “We received information about a man living in the city without valid documents and initiated action. We have filed a case against Mohammed,” Hyderabad South Zone DCP P Sai Chaitanya said.

He said Faiz Mohammed went to Sharjah in December 2019 to work at a garments company and met an Indian woman, Neha Fatima (29) from Hyderabad. The top police officer said Mohammed helped Fatima secure a job as a tailor and eventually fell in love with her. The duo got married and Fatima gave birth to a boy, who is now three years old.

After Fatima moved back to India, her parents asked Mohammed to come to India and promised him to secure a new identity. Fatima’s parents, Zubair and Afzal Begum, picked up Mohammed from the Nepal border by managing the border officials. Police said Zubair and Afzal Begum took Mohammed to an Aadhaar office in Madhapur and enrolled him as Mohd Ghouse, a son of theirs, by submitting a birth certificate. The woman’s parents are on the run.

DCP Chaitanya said, “Police are investigating the matter. We have launched a manhunt to locate Zubair and Afzal Begum.”
