The police said the main was held late on Thursday night from his house under the Annapurna police station area on a compliant from the girl’s father who was alerted by the victim’s cousin.

“The victim’s parents noticed cash and jewellery were going missing often from the home over the past two months. Last week, the Class XII student’s father saw a threatening message on her phone,” the police said.

The accused has confessed he has taken ₹ 1.2 lakh from her. He is being probed to see if he has trapped other persons with this modus operandi,” the police said.
