Healthcare: India presents first two of 109 life support ambulances to Bangladesh
New Delhi: India on Tuesday presented two life support ambulances to Sylhet Osmania Medical College and Hospital and the Khadimpara 31-bed hospital in Sylhet Sadar, Bangladesh, respectively.
The Indian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Vikram Doraiswami, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Dr. A.K.Abdul Momin, were present at the event held at the Sylhet Osmania Medical College and Hospital (SOMCH), Sylhet.
Paramedics and first responders can use the ambulances equipped with advanced, life-saving equipment, to deliver superior emergency care and trauma life support to patients en route to the hospital for treatment.
These ambulances are part of a larger plan to deliver 109 life support ambulances, as stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his March 2021 state visit to Bangladesh.
According to the Indian Embassy in Dhaka, New Delhi has been aiding Bangladesh in its fight against Covid-19 through a range of measures, including the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE), medical equipment, testing kits, vaccines, capacity-building, and experience-sharing workshops.
When India required help during the second wave of the pandemic earlier this year, Bangladesh too stepped up its support.
