World Test Championship: New Zealand’s first inning to resume from 101 for 2
Mumbai: The Fourth Day of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand – completely washed out by rain. Persistent rain hung around throughout the fourth day until the play was abandoned for the day.
Only 141.1 overs have been possible so far. New Zealand will resume their first innings from 101 runs for the loss of two wickets today.
New Zealand’s Captain Kane Williamson’s team is trailing India by 116 runs. India made 217 in their first innings.
Consistently rain in Southampton cricket ground increases the possibilities of match draw. A reserve, the sixth day is in place. So two days remain, but a draw is now the clear favorite for the inaugural final.
As far as June 22 goes, the weather in Southampton will be cloudy, though the chances of rain are fairly less in comparison to June 21. A slight drizzle is expected at different intervals during the day. It also has to be noted that a maximum of 98 overs will be bowled in the day, though the weather situation does suggest that the two teams would be lucky to get even 80 overs of action on Tuesday.
